Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but to pour them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then, with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away.” – Dinah Maria Mulock Craik
Life is not always well represented by the pretty pictures posted on our social media feeds. It can be beautiful, of course, full of smiles and “firsts” and an assortment of celebrations and mundane moments of awe. But, it can also be challenging, overwhelming, and sometimes downright painful! Sometimes things happen to us through the course of a life that we can barely name, much less feel safe enough to share with another person.
Acknowledging and eventually allowing someone to safely bear witness to the painful experiences of our lives is a big deal. It takes a lot of courage, but ultimately facing our own wounds transforms them from something that haunts and hurts to something that strengthens, empowers, and deepens. This is an amazing process because the healing comes from a deep, whole place that already exists inside of you! Not sure you have that place in you? That’s where therapy comes in. My job to help you find this in yourself, whatever the circumstances of your life.
Being a guide to the process of healing from trauma is one of the great joys of my life. Every day, I have the honor of witnessing deep healing and transformation. In my years of treating trauma, I have learned what works and what doesn’t. Many of my clients have spent years in traditional counseling without meaningful relief or change. Through an integrated approach, I use EMDR, depth psychotherapy, and mindfulness work to get under the surface and beyond the cognitive self. The result is that I see people heal and grow in ways they never could have imagined – and you can do this, too!
Together, we will move through a process of reconnecting with your own wisdom, letting go of what doesn’t serve you, and gradually becoming whole in a brand new way. You can have a life that is full, meaningful, healthy, happy, and free.
Give me a call today and lets explore what this might look like for you!
